Dates for Thesis Defence - A.Y. 2024-25:

THESIS DEFENCE INFORMATION

To be admitted to the final examination, students must have completed within the term set by the Department:

--- all examinations and acquired all of the credits envisaged in the plan of study, with the exception of those for the final examination;

--- the online upload of the thesis in electronic format to the Esse3 system.

The final examination consists of writing and public discussion of an experimental degree thesis, containing the results of an original basic or applied scientific research. 

The thesis is presented to a Degree Commission of 5 lecturers from the Programme Council or Council of the Department, appointed by the Department Director. Each thesis is allocated to an Opponent, a lecturer or researcher with the task of examining the paper and assessing the content, who will receive a copy of the thesis 7 days before the degree session. 

The final degree mark is calculated as specified in the Didactic Regulations (Art.9). The mark awarded to the degree thesis may add a maximum of 7 (seven) points, divided as follows: a maximum of 3 (three) points assigned by the Supervisor; a maximum of 2 (two) points assigned by the Opponent; a maximum of 2 (two) points awarded by the Commission. A further 1 (one) point may be added if the final degree examination is passed by the student by the extraordinary session of the second academic year. 1 (one) point is awarded if the student has spent a period outside Italy to sit examinations for 12 CFU, during the period of registration for the Master’s Degree.
